Sunday NFL Free play. My selection is on Detroit minus the points over Arizona at 4:25 pm et on Sunday.
The Lions are coming off a home loss against the Buccaneers last week as they left a ton of points on the table in a frustrating offensive performance. I look for Detroit to get right this week as it heads west to face the upstart Cardinals in Arizona.
The Cards took full advantage of an injury-depleted Rams squad last Sunday. Things went from bad to worse for Los Angeles in that contest as it lost the focal point of its offense in WR Cooper Kupp and was never able to respond following Arizona's early punches. I expect a much different story to unfold here as the Lions should be able to race up and down the field. The question becomes whether they can finish their drives with points on the board, something they failed to do on too many occasions last week. I believe the answer is yes against a very beatable Cards defense.
Arizona QB Kyler Murray has looked terrific through two games, finally healthy and supported by more weapons than he's accustomed to having. I do expect this one to look a little more like the Cards Week 1 defeat in Buffalo, however. In that game, the Bills had Murray running for his life for most of the afternoon. The Lions can do a similar job of putting Murray in a blender here. I'm also expecting Arizona to be playing from behind for much of the game - a situation where Murray can become mistake-prone.
Yes, the Cards have provided a nice comeback story early on but I'm not about to anoint them a playoff team. The schedule gets a lot tougher with the Lions this week and trips to San Francisco and Green Bay coming up in Weeks 4 and 5. No team looks good every week and I'm willing to give Detroit a pass for last Sunday's ugly performance. Take Detroit.
